CHARACTER GUIDELINES.
YOU WILL FEEL PAIN IF YOU DO NOT FOLLOW THESE GUIDELINES.

BASICS
Here at The Equinox, we're pretty free about how you create and play your characters. As long as you have filled out the entire application form, you may roleplay. You don't even need a staffie to approve your horse! But because we're so lawless, we have to be able to trust you, as a member, to abide by the in-character rules, which are conveniently listed below. You don't have to read them, but remember, you'll be punished as if you had. You will receive no warning; this is your warning. So just give these a look-see so you know what you're up against...it is, after all, nothing you haven't seen before.
RATIOS & LIMITS
There are no limits on how many horses you can create on The Equinox. You can go crazy with your herd! However, when the activity check rolls around, if you don't have a post with a specific character within the last two months, that character's bio will be deleted and their name removed from the reserve list. Also, the type of characters you create will be limited by our ratios. Keeping the number of males and females roughly even in each herd is always a good idea, so if there are too many males at one time, for example, we will ban them for a while until the numbers even out. Unless you have special permission to create a horse of the banned gender at that time (and, in some plots, you might get the okay) you will not be able to make a horse of that type until the ban is lifted.
GODMODDING
Godmodding is when your horse is, well, a god. Nothing goes wrong in their life; they never get hurt; never feel anything but happiness, or angst at their perfect life, which is even worse. If you want to be a tough guy, you'd better have the grounds for it. Unless we see the fighting experience in your history, you're not going to get out without a scratch.
PWP
PWP, or powerplay, is when you control another person's character without their consent or approval. Now, that's the definition; it's okay to play out another character's actions if you have their okay, or to finish out a thread (if the other player's gone inactive), those sorts of things. But to do it while the other person is there isn't good. They're in complete control of their own character; they don't need your help, and unless they are incredibly passive, they surely won't like any of the assistance you have to give. Here's a tip: don't offer.
PWP also stands for 'porn without passion', or 'plot, what plot?' This is all-out shagging, with no storyline to lead up to it and no plans for the aftermath. Don't do it. It's disgusting, and no matter the rating of the site, completely uncalled for. No one wants to read this, especially your roleplaying partner, and if you are both bound and determined to have lawless, graphic sex, then do it in PM. The rest of us don't want to read it. This is also against the Proboards terms of service; if you get caught, you will be banned. But you already got that from the rules, didn't you?
MAGIC
The Equinox is not a magic site, however surprising that may be. The horse on the banner is not a unicorn, nor a pegasus, nor any other type of mythical creation. We don't have a shop where you can buy strange, mysterious powers, and godly horses who shake the earth with every step are out of the question. The only non-realistic thing we allow here is special markings, and there are specific guidelines for those. So again, no magic.
TRIBAL MARKINGS
Here at The Equinox, your horse can have colorful tribal markings that show its alliance to a particular herd. These are, however, not without their limits. Kepa horses can only have red, orange, or yellow markings. Lozi horses can only have green, blue, or purple designs, and Vakuro horses can only have gold, silver, bronze, or black. Vakuro markings are somewhat reflective & metallic; the others are not. Horses with parents from two different herds may only be created if both parents already exist on-site and have plotted out the entire romance, from first meeting to mare pregnancy and birth. If you have any questions about the marking rules, or mixed breedings, just PM one of us staffies and we'll be happy to help you out.
